How we make money

Right now, nothing on this site earns us anything. There are no affiliate links, no sponsorships, and no paid placements. When that changes, this page will say exactly what changed — before the first link goes live.

The rule that matters

A place, stay, or activity gets recommended because it earns its spot in the plan. Whether a commission happens to be available plays no part in that decision. If two options are genuinely equal and one is bookable through a partner, that can break the tie — it can never promote a weak option into a recommendation.

Where a good non-commercial option exists, we'll keep pointing at it. Booking direct with a small inn is often better for you and for them, and we'll say so even when it earns us nothing.

Where you'll see it

Any page carrying a paid link says so at the top of that page, in normal reading type, before the content — not in a footer and not behind a "read more". Paid links are also marked in the page's code so search engines can tell them apart from ordinary citations.

What we won't do

• Claim we stayed somewhere, ate somewhere, or did something that we didn't.
• Present a sponsored or gifted arrangement as an ordinary recommendation.
• Fill a guide with unrelated gear links.
• Let a partner approve or edit an assessment of their own property.
